About St Johns
St Johns is named after St John's College, founded in 1844 by Bishop Selwyn, and Wikipedia describes a natural basin there as prone to seasonal flooding. The council lists St Johns among the Ōrākei board's business areas.
Housing: Postwar homes on streets climbing towards the St John's College ridge, with newer townhouses and developments at Stonefields.
Common jobs: Renovations, extensions, decks, re-roofing, retaining, and townhouse builds.
Local board: Ōrākei Local Board (Auckland Central).
Other guides in the same local board: Remuera, Ellerslie, Mission Bay, St Heliers, Meadowbank
Consent and planning notes
A low basin area in St Johns has a history of seasonal flooding, so check GeoMaps for flood and overland-flow overlays before planning floor levels. Volcanic viewshaft overlays can also apply.
