Trades you need for full renovations

A full renovation often starts with an inspection and strip-out, then new services, linings and finishes room by room.

Typical order

  1. Design and consent: Building surveyors and pre-purchase inspectors, Architects, designers and draughtspeople, Kitchen designers and installers
  2. Site prep and earthworks: Demolition and asbestos removal
  3. Roof and cladding (weathertight): Scaffolders, Window and door installers, glaziers and double-glazing retrofitters
  4. Services first fix: Plumbers and gasfitters, Electricians, Heat pump, HVAC and ventilation installers
  5. Insulation and linings: Plasterers and GIB stoppers, Insulation installers
  6. Fit-out and finishes: Joiners and cabinetmakers, Bathroom renovators, Painters and decorators, Flooring (carpet, timber, vinyl, polished concrete)

Trades appear under the first stage where they are needed. Your builder sets the real sequence.
